Mentorship guidelines
How mentorship is run and what you can expect from mentors in our programmes.
About our mentors
Our mentors are experienced professionals who volunteer their time to support learners. They bring real-world expertise and are committed to helping you succeed in your chosen track.
Mentors are selected based on their professional experience, technical expertise, and commitment to supporting learners. They contribute their time voluntarily and are not compensated for their mentorship.
What mentors provide
Weekly sessions
Regular mentor-led sessions covering programme content, answering questions, and providing guidance on projects and labs.
Project and lab reviews
Feedback on your applied projects and practical labs to help you improve and meet programme requirements.
Technical guidance
Help with technical challenges, best practices, and industry insights relevant to your track.
Learning guidance
Guidance on learning paths, skill development, and applying knowledge within your specialisation.
Mentor availability
Mentors have professional commitments outside of the programme. While they are dedicated to supporting you, please be mindful of their time:
- Mentors typically respond to messages within 48 hours during weekdays
- Scheduled sessions are the primary channel for in-depth support
- For urgent technical issues, use peer support channels first when possible
- Respect mentors' boundaries and professional commitments
How to work with mentors
Come prepared
Review materials before sessions, prepare specific questions, and share context about challenges you're facing.
Be specific
When asking for help, provide details about what you've tried, error messages, and what you're trying to achieve.
Take initiative
Mentors guide and support, but you are responsible for your learning. Do your own research first, then ask for clarification or deeper insights.
Apply feedback
Act on mentor feedback and show progress. This demonstrates your commitment and helps mentors provide more targeted support.
What mentors cannot do
To set appropriate expectations, mentors cannot:
- Complete assignments or projects for you
- Provide 24/7 support or immediate responses to all messages
- Guarantee job placements or career outcomes
- Share proprietary or confidential information from their employers
Feedback and improvement
We value your feedback on the mentorship experience. If you have suggestions for improvement or concerns about mentor interactions, please contact the programme lead. All feedback is taken seriously and helps us improve the programme.
